Carbon Storage Dialogues:
#6 Realising Industrial Carbon Management

In recent years the European Commission has taken a proactive approach to decarbonising industry. The Industrial Carbon Management Strategy (ICM) – covering the range of technologies to capture, store, transport and use CO2 emissions from industrial and energy production facilities, as well as to remove CO2 from the atmosphere – and the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA) explicitly include actions and targets for carbon storage. CO2 transport plays an important role in this.

Against the backdrop of active policy making, CCS, CCU and CDR projects in Europe and other regions are progressing and offer important experiences to build on. The theme of the Carbon Storage Dialogues 2025 on 10 April was therefore “Realising Industrial Carbon Management.” Together with speakers from The Netherlands and abroad we dived into the work that needs to be done for successful industrial carbon management, a European transport network and competitive industry. We also discussed the relation and ratio between CCS and CDR.

Speakers include: DG CLIMA European Commission, Ministery of Climate and Green Growth, Porthos, Greensand, Eni, CO2next, SLP Capturi, RWE, Microsoft and Oxford Net Zero.
