SCAN seismic data for geothermal energy – KNGMG Symposium

During the KNGMG mini-symposium on ‘Seismics in the energy transition’ on May 30, 2024, Henk van Lochem discussed the various applications of seismic and other forms of data acquisition and processing for geothermal energy.

In this (English) presentation, the 2D seismic data collected by SCAN and the reprocessing of existing seismic data are discussed in detail. He indicates how choices were made as to where new seismic lines were acquired, and which lines were reprocessed.
He also discusses special seismic acquisition and reprocessing in the form of wide-lines, cross-spreads and seismic inversion. The SCAN research drillings are also discussed as an important follow-up and addition to the seismic data
