Thijs van de Vooren (45) is to be the new Chief Financial Officer of Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN) as of June 15. He succeeds Bas Brouwer, who will be continuing his career outside EBN after fifteen years with the company. At present, Van de Vooren works as Director of Corporate Finance, Control & Risk at Eneco.

Before working at Eneco (since 2019), Thijs van de Vooren held various finance-related positions at Lehman Brothers and Shell, among others. Thijs van de Vooren studied Civil Engineering (TU Delft) and Business Administration (Erasmus Rotterdam). Van de Vooren joins Jan Willem van Hoogstraten (CEO) and Yolande Verbeek (COO) who together form EBN’s Board of Directors.

Frits Eulderink, chairman of EBN’s Supervisory Board: ‘First of all, we would like to thank Bas for his valuable contribution to EBN. As a policy instrument of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, EBN is closely involved in ensuring energy security in the Netherlands and yet it also fulfils a public task when it comes to speeding up efforts towards sustainability. EBN therefore operates as a state-owned enterprise in very diverse areas of work, and this requires solid experience in financial management. Thijs has extensive financial experience in a variety of positions, both at home and abroad. We believe that he fits perfectly within the ambitions that EBN has set.’

Jan Willem van Hoogstraten, CEO of EBN: ‘With our participation in various areas of work such as heating, CO2 transportation and storage, and gas, we also need commitment and experience when it comes to the financial side of the operations. With the departure of Bas Brouwer, Thijs van de Vooren is absolutely the right man for the job. We are very grateful to Bas for setting up and expanding a robust financial organisation and for the crucial role he played in filling the gas storage facilities – and therefore in guaranteeing security of supply – following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It is an important and solid foundation upon which Thijs, drawing from his wealth of experience, can continue to build.
